Opening Day!!!!

Technically opening day was yesterday (outside of that BS games in Jap Land) and was a great game with a walk off homer by Ryan Zimmerman. What was bad about the game was Bush getting booed. That is just bull shit. You don't boo a president at a baseball game whether you like him or not. It is like booing your own team-that should never be done know matter how much the suck, you can cuss and yell you suck, but booing is off limits. Great day of Baseball, probably my third favorite day of the year. Fuck studying, it is over-rated, baseball is my top priority today.

Astros vs Padres-6-3 Astros-Oswalt vs Peavy, probably the best match up between starters, both go 7 and Berkman and Lee hr.

Cubs vs Brewers 9-2 Brewers-Sheets vs Z, another good match up-Brewers O gets it done, Z lasts 4

Royals vs Tigers 4-0 Tigers-Verlander goes 6 with 9 K's and Pudge hits 2 hrs, the teams combine for 8 hits.

Jays vs Yankees 7-4 Jays-Wang lasts 3 innings, Halladay pitches 7 and gives up 1 run. Rios has 3 rbi's

Dbacks vs Reds 2-1 DBacks-Webb and Harang pitch 7 innings 1 run, Codero gives up a HR to Young

White Sox vs Indians 7-6 White Sox-CC gets hit hard, Cabrerra, Konerko, and Thome all go yard. Grady gets 4 hits and 4 rbi's

Rays vs Baltimore 6-4 Rays- Crawford and Pena go yard in the first and Scott hits a grand slam

Nationals vs Phillies 7-3 Phillies- Howard hits 2 hrs and Zimmerman hits another

Mets vs Marlins 3-1 Mets- Santana 6 innings 10K's and Delgado has 3 rbi's

Giants vs Dodgers 5-0 Giants-Zito shuts down the Dodgers

Rockies vs Cardinals 7-1 Rockies- Tulo and Holiday go yard, Glaus in his Cardinals first ab goes yard

Rangers vs Mariners 4-1 Mariners- Bedard K's 11 and Ichiro has 3 hits and Beltre goes yard

Angels vs Twins 5-3 Twins- Hunter K's 3 times in first game against the Twins. Lamb hits the go ahead 3-run hr in the 8th

Pirates vs Braves 3-2 Braves- McCann hits a hr, but the Braves manage only 3 hits

What has bothered me a lot the past few days is reading all the so-called experts who say that the Cubs will run away with the division and the Astros, Cardinals, and Pirates will battle it out for last place. It is a 4 team race. The Cubs improved in one spot, RF, and I am not sure if Fukudome will be as good as Jones last year. The only thing that worries me about the Astros outside of the pitching is Wiggy's D. It is like Woody's pitching in ST. So here are my NL predictions

NL Central

Brewers- 95-67

Astros- 92-70 WC

Reds-88-74

Cubs- 82-80

Cardinals- 72-90

Pirates- 69-93

NL East

Mets- 100-62

Phillies- 91-71

Braves-89-73

Nationals- 74-88

Marlins- 63-99

NL West

DBacks- 90-72

Rockies-88-74

Padres- 84-78

Dodgers-79-83

Giants-59-103

This Weekend

This weekend is looking like it is goin to be one of the best for me in a long time. Got to go watch my Longhorns win last night. I was close enough to see the sweat from the players, while my buddy (who is one of the biggest fans there is) had to use binoculars to see and I let him know it, he was pissed. But then I wake up after a heavy night of drinking to a text message from Steve Jones. It was the best news I had heard since we signed Tejada. WOODY WILLIAMS IS NO LONGER A STRO!!!! About fuckin time. What about last year? Why couldn't they have done the same thing to Jennings last year as well? Goin to a concert tonight, then get to watch the UT Memphis game on Sunday and then opening day on Sunday night and get to see the new Nationals stadium. I don't count the bull shit Red Sox-A's Jap game. It was a stupid idea and should never be done again. And for another matter, who decided that the Red Sox would be the away team? You know damn well that they were like a home team there, with the Japs on their team. Then Opening day for the rest of the league on Monday. I wont be studyin or doin anything from now till Monday.

But the best news is Woody is no longer an Astro. I also saw that we have 3 picks in the top 50 next year. Maybe our new GM wont fuck this up like the one we had last year. Maybe we can actually sign somebody and not let Selig get in the way of our signings like he did with Drew Stubbs. Get some major league talent ready pitching. Some body like an Andrew Miller. Someone who will be up by next season or the one after that.

The Fucktard & The Wasteman now gone

Everyone Knows What I am Talking about

When you go to a baseball game, you go to watch the game and in my case watch and get drunk. You always have those fans around you that are loud and abnoxious and know nothing about baseball. Mostly when you are at Minute Maid and the Cubs are playing. While at Spring Training I was fortunate enough to sit in front of Canadians in town to watch the Blue Jays play the Stros. I was focused on the game (1. Oswalt was pitching 2. was with my parents who dont drink 3. I dont have money to get beer), but I kept hearing this fuckin Canadians behind me. They kept saying "eh" after every fuckin sentence. After I heard it a few times, I couldn't help but keep listening. I mean really every other freaking word. I don't know what is worse having to listen to a Cubs fan rant about how Zambrano is the best pitcher in baseball or having to listen to "eh." Maybe South Park has it right when they talk about how bad Canada really is. We need to stop worrying about our boarder to the South and start worrying about the boarder in the North, but I would have to say atleast they knew something about baseball. Here are some quotes, " Bob how many points do the Astros have?" Jack then asks,"What do they do for over-time?" The only one that knew something about the sport said "eh, they have 6 runs, eh. They play extra innings, eh." But the best of them all was, "Daddy where are the Astros from?" Dad replies,"They are from Texas, eh. Son you can tell exactly who the Astros fans are because they all wear cowboy hats, eh." Cowboy hats? Yeah every single Texan wears cowboy hats and we still ride on horses. There were like maybe 10 people in a 4,000 seat stadium wearing cowboy hats. So by his reasoning there were only 10 Astros fans that came down from Texas, so by his reasoning the other 3,000 in the park were either misplaced Astros fans or were Toronto fans. Maybe he was joking, maybe not, either way he was still a fucking moron. I mean they over-ran the Orlando area! They were at Universal, at Disney, and I swear at every single game I went to and I just happened to sit in front of them. I know not all of Canadians are like them, but they put of a bad imagine of the idiocracy that is Canada. So I have no clue what is worse, listening to Canadians talk about something they have no clue about and including "eh" after everything or listening to a Cubs fan wonder why Zambrano isn't pitching when he pitched so good the day before?

The Starting Pitching

Ill start off with the Starting Pitching. Or lack there of.... As of right now the Starting Rotation is
really nothing after Oswalt.
1. Oswalt
2. Backe
3. Wandy
4. Chacon
5. ????

Oswalt is goin to be as good as advertised.
Backe-From what I have seen he has looked good, but hopefully he will be healthy
Wandy-Can he pitch on the road this year? He looks like he is finally controlling his emotions
Chacon-A surprise to me. Pitched better than I expected. It is a low risk/high reward signing. Is he goin to pitch like he did in Colorado?

Now our number 5 starting position is up for grabs.

Case for Sampson-Pitched great in his rookie season last year.
Downfall-Doesn't have the best stuff. Has a bruised leg which might help Woody get in there

Case for Woody- There really isn't much of one for him. He will be lucky to still be in an Astros uni come opening day. Veteran
Downfall- Isn't the pitcher he used to be at all-not even close. Even if he pitches excelent he gets lit up.

Case for a FA signing- There is not many pitchers out there that can be any worse than Woody. Not signin Patterson was probably a good move, but it could have been a low risk/high reward, but the lack of interest from other teams in him kind of makes me wonder if he will ever get back to the pitcher he once was.

Downfall for a FA signing- $$$$ is what it will come down to. Freddy Garcia will be available to pitch in a few months, but he is goin to cost a shit-load being by that time you will see who is the playoff races and who isn't. Claudio Vargas is a signing I wouldn't mind seeing. He has been a decent pitcher for his career and only got cut because there was no room on the Brewers pitching staff for him. But they might have to battle the Mets for him. I don't know why he would want to go to the Mets unless he is fine in the Pen.

I see Woody starting as the number 5 (uhhhhh), but on a short leash because I doubt Drayton will spend the money to get Vargas. If we are still in the race when Garcia is healthy maybe we will make a run at him. He is a former farm hand of us, but he is goin to cost a ton. So it all comes down to Drayton spending money since Timmy P. fucked our farm system up.

Cubs Bashing

I would just like to post a blog on how much I hate the Cubs, I just have a few things to comment about. I can't stand anything about them. I mean they haven't even been to the WS since 1945, that is 63 years!!!! And they dont know shit about the game, just that they should love the Cubs because they are the "Lovable Losers."

Top Ten things that have happened since the Cubs last won the World Series
Number 10Haley's Comet passed earth. Twice.
Number 9The NBA, NHL, and NFL were formed, and Chicago teams won championships in each league.
Number 8The Titanic was built, set sail, sank, was discovered, and became the subject of major motion pictures, the latter giving Cubs fans hope that something that finishes on the bottom can come out on top.
Number 7George Burns celebrated his 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th and 100th birthdays.
Number 6Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Oklahoma, and New Mexico were added to the Union.
Number 5Harry Caray was born. And drank. And drank. And drank. And died. And had a statue built for him.
Number 4Bell-bottoms came in style, and went out of style. Then came back into style. And holy bejesus are back out of style.
Number 3Radio was invented; Cubs fans got to hear their team lose. TV was invented; Cubs fans got to see their team lose. Baseball added 14 teams; Cubs fans got to see and hear their team lose to more teams.
Number 2Flag poles were erected on the Wrigley Field roof to hold all of the team's future World Series pennants. Those flag poles have since rusted and been taken down.
And coming in at Number 1...The White Sox won it all.

There is always next year......

Spring Training

Spring Training was an experience every Astros fan needs to experience once in their lifetime. Whether we suck or are good. Went for the first time this year. I got to see us play once at home and once at the Tigers Field. And let me tell you before the season starts WOODY WILLIAMS FUCKIN SUCKS!!!!!! We would be better off having Dan Miceli come back and pitch for us. I don't know why Timmy P. decided to give him a 2 year contract. Maybe Woody gave good old Timmy a 5 knuckle shuffle because it makes no sense to me. But on a better note the hitting looked great and the pitching looked good (not including Woody).
